VA Pghd Observation Profile for Daily Activity Summaries

VA PGHD Observation profile for multiple daily activities. The category code is fixed from the mobile-observation-category valueset. The component coding binds to the pghd daily-activity-code valueset.

Structures: Extension Definitions

These define constraints on FHIR data types for systems conforming to this implementation guide.

VA PGHD Observation DeviceDefinition Extension

R4 Observation extension for new attribute: deviceDefinition [0..*] -> Reference(DeviceDefinition). It can capture the device data pathway from the actual device to VA apps, including device, platform, gateway, cloud, etc.

VA PGHD Observation valueAttachment Extension

R4 Observation extension for attribute value[]x: add a new type - Attachment. It can model an attachment report for observation.

Types of patient-generated data specifying body locations where the temperature can be taken.

Daily Activity Code

Types of activities that are part of a patient-generated daily activity report.

Exercise Activity Code

Answer set for patient-generated selection of type of exercise.

VA PGHD Code System

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Office of Connected Care (OCC) established the Patient Generated Health Data (PGHD) Code System in order to address issues with the consistent use and coding of terms related to data created, recorded or gathered electronically by or from Veterans, beneficiaries or their authorized delegates outside the clinical health care setting to help address health concerns. The use of the VA PGHD Code System is intended for and has been applied to the PGHD Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource (FHIR) Application Programming Interface (API) where data is obtained from a variety of Internet of Things (IoT) devices or specialized applications supporting patient engaged personal health monitoring and care. The terms created to support additional codes missing from existing published code systems allows application against patient observable FHIR data for consistency. While intended for VA use exclusively to address lacking terminology code systems supporting PGHD, this code system could potentially be adopted by other organizations to address terminology standardization issues. The OCC governs and maintains the VA PGHD Code System as PGHD data stewards and maintainers of the supporting FHIR API.
